JSC BIRIU KROVINIU TERMINALAS (BKT) is the largest stevedoring company in the Port of Klaipeda and the biggest one in the world for fertilizer and grain handling. The team’s experience, competence and investment enable full utilisation of: 6 quays, 3 wagon unloading stations, 3 shiploaders, 2 wagons scales, 1 trucks scales, 1 hopper scales and 10 covered warehouses.
About Us
Founded in 1997, JSC BIRIU KROVINIU TERMINALAS (BKT) specialises in handling bulk mineral fertilizers. Since the beginning of company’s activities the BKT has become the largest stevedoring company in the port of Klaipeda and one of the most efficient terminals in the world. Over the years more than 105 million euros have been invested towards the terminal development. This investment is dedicated to new technologies, equipment, infrastructure and enhancing human resources. In response to the changed geopolitical situation, the Company diversified its main activities for the handling and storage of grain crops. From 2022, investments were made in the infrastructure, adapting a part of the terminal to the loading of this production, and from 2023, active loading was started. Active searches for attracting new cargoes are actively conducted, successfully adapting to the circumstances, cargo nomenclature, etc. Main clients are one of the largest Lithuanian grain exporters and wholesale fertilizer traders in Lithuania. In 2019, JSC BIRIU KROVINIU TERMINALAS was recognised as the most preferred employer within Lithuania’s transport sector, part of this was due to the company’s dedication towards fulfilling their social responsibilities and recording the lowest staff turnover in Klaipėda Port.
